I've now lost track of how many times I've listened to this album since I got it. Best song on the album for me is Bleed to Feed by CC Adcock & The Lafayette Marquis, sexy as hell. There are only at best 3 songs I'm not too keen on, Lake Charles, Devil in Disguise & I Don't Wanna Know. Love Two by Ryan Adams and Golden State. These are the types of songs that bring out the devil in you on the dancefloor, otherwise known as my living room or kitchen! Can't recommend the album enough.

I haven't actually watched the TV series yet, though I have seen bits of episodes and the DVDs are sitting waiting for me to open. Despite this, the soundtrack still really evokes the hot, still steamy atmosphere of the books, with sultry nights and people of all kinds creeping about in the woods.
I have no idea if northern Louisiana is really anything like that, but I do hope so because the books take you right into it and let you wander round and this soundtracky/accompanying music helps you along.

Firstly, I am NOT a fan of the books that the epically awesome True Blood is based on. So I was extremely dubious about the show when it first came out. But I have to say, that as soon as I heard the first few chords of Jace Everett's brilliant title song, my hopes for this program were immediately raised.
This album is a great collection of music from/inspired by the show, and in my opinion, it is the drawling swamp-rock soundtrack to the show that lends True Blood much of it's appeal. The songs perfectly match the tone of the stories that unfold. From dark and moody to twangy country-chic, the True Blood soundtrack echoes of the bayou and will get you singing along whether you want to or not!
A great accompaniment to the show.

I understand from my kids "True Blood" is a T.V. series about Vampires, I have never watched the series and maybe never will.
I was attracted by the artists on the listings, and I was not disappointed on playing the tracks. The version of "Play with Fire" a real bonus.
Not every record my cup of Tea, but plenty there for the "older" person to enjoy.
Gram Parsons, Ryan Adams etc..
