How many reviews for this album are there? I'm hoping long term fans aren't the ones giving this 1, 2 or even 3 stars! It's not their best, but it's not bad either! It is like alot of albums - the first listen pays more attention to the songs you know & you have to listen to it all a few times before recognising others. It is a grower but I can't say I've ever fallen in love with an album, the whole album, after the first listen.

Older people who grew up listening to Queen may be offended by track 4 & I was disappointed at first with the likeness but as a Muse fan I still like the song because it still contains sounds of Muse. I just see it more of a tribute to Queen now & Queen should be proud they have inspired the band. 'Copying' can be seen as flattery.

I don't know how many people will read this as I wouldn't like to read 200+ reviews to be swayed to buy it or not, but I say if you like Muse, or like what you've heard you won't be disappointed, & as a fan who has all their albums I am not disappointed.

Everyone has different opinions. One reviewer said this: Absolution, showbiz and origin of symmetry = brill albums.
Black holes and revelations and the resistance = pure bile....that's their opinion. I would say none of their albums are bile! And Black Holes is definitely not! That is one of their best! Maybe I'm biased coz they played this album, along with some classics of theirs, when I saw them live so when listening to it I have a good memory. In my opinion Absolution is their weakest album but there's still some strong songs on it & it may just be due to not listening to it, I should take my own advice & give it a few listens then I'm sure I will love it just as much as all their great work.

I'm sure people will disagree with me but some will agree. And I am a girl who asked for this & Lady GaGa's album for Christmas so that's why I've not written anything too serious, or compared it to other rock groups. One more thing - Queen obviously do have a massive influence, maybe sub-consciously for me too if I like Muse & GaGa! :p

Now I love Muse. Loving Muse as in owning all possible albums and DVD's to do with them, so you could consider me along with a hell of a lot people on the web, a "Musehead". And it's times when an album like this is released, you realise why alot more people should enjoy Muse the way you do.

Muse's The Resistance is a fantastic album in short. It bring's everything from all the other albums that hardcore Muse fans love, but at the same time introduces alot more "Popular" content than in older albums, but like "Black Holes and Revelations", to widen the crowd that appreciates Muse!

Alot of people think that when a band goes "Pop" it's bad, well in this case I disagree, I have to admit that I absolutely adore the new techniques Muse has used, making every listen to this album an absolute treat.

Now I would go in to each track in detail, but I think that would spoil the journey of listening to this amazing piece of work, so all I will say is, buy it! Buy it if you appreciate ANY type of Music, there will be something there for you!

This is a very "different" album, but it is "different" in a good way.
Uprising is by far my favourite track of the album, with Resistance and Undisclosed Desires coming in joint second.
The most interesting tracks in my opinion however, are "United States of Eurasia" and all 3 exogenesis symphonies. The first seems to be a very Queen inspired track and I thought I was listening to Queen. But it does grow on you and becomes better with each listen. And the symphonies are a MUSE/Mozart hybrid. Very interesting tracks.
My final opinion is, you have to be a very big MUSE fan to like this album, otherwise, you won't understand its sheer brilliance.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike this band, but the hype around them is absurd.
Small children witter about their fantastic creativity, but having been a teenager in the eighties I just wonder why they haven't been done for plagiarism - I challenge anyone who remembers those far off days to listen to this album without wanting to sing "Vienna!" at least once.

That said, they are an above average Queen tribute band (if you pretend that Brian's arthritis is playing up and Freddie's got a really bad case of laryngitis) and are perfectly listenable.
