I really like this band, I was hooked from the first time I heard them about a decade ago.
This 4th (am I right?) album is thought provoking and a delight to listen to, the boys have a clever use of observation and just the tiniest amount of irony/sarcasm.
My neighbours don't like it much though - or maybe it's my "singing" along to it....
Definately worth a listen, and I'd recommend it as a worthwhile addition to the cd tower.

Lostprophets' flirtation with the mainstream means they're perpetually doomed to suffer from a self-inflicted damned-if-they-do/damned-if-they-don't syndrome. Accordingly, here they can't decide whether they want to play the puffed up nu-metal (`DYSTRYR') of their debut, or the studio-softened emo-pop (`Darkest Blue') of their more recent efforts. They'll get over-criticised for both, but more worrying is that the band thought it wise to sneak the pomp-rock power-balladry of `Where We Belong' and `Dirty Little Heart' on - I can almost taste Steve Perry, and it tastes like 1981. And all the while my dream of a full album of new wave rockers like Start Something's `Last Summer' seems ever more distant. Sigh...
Choice Cuts: `Darkest Blue', `Streets of Nowhere'

Being a big lostprophets fan i bought the album, without hearing much of the material; and i have to say i was pleasantly surprised with the content. The bass is much heavier than in Liberation Transmission yet isn't quite as heavy as the Fake Sound of Progress, which was ideal for me. Happy with the album overall :)
