The first I heard of Paolo Nutini was a brief TV appearance at a recent festival in Glasgow. So I bought this album completely on speck. What an amazing roller coaster ride this album is. It pays homage to most music traditions; from soul to blue grass to cotton jazz to 1950s rock - right back to soul, but all with its own unique twist. I was moved to jive as well as to silent contemplation. Paolo's voice is a mixture of soulful mourning and an almost childlike joy in the world - beautiful! and what diverse lyrics: '... make myself a sail then i'll float to you my darling...' and 'I got a pencil full of lead.' As you can tell, I loved this album and I dare anyone not to listen to a least a couple of tracks.Sunny Side Up

Bought this album on the back of hearing a few tracks from Paulo. A bit disappointed as it is very different from the chart stuff he has released. Its ok but not great.

Love to be able to review this cd, however it was for my wife, she loves it. And by the way at the present an ear problem renders me pretty deaf. Rubbish review, but it saves all the technical stuff we all read on albums sometimes!

I bought this item as a birthday gift for a family member. I was very disappointed when it came to me as a pre-owned item and not sealed. The artist is just amazing and I love his music but extremely embarrassed at having to give a pre-owned item as a gift.
